At the same time, stricter methane monitoring and reporting requirements are driving operators to improve leak detection efficiency, operational safety, and data traceability.
A large biogas facility in France sought a more efficient approach to methane monitoring across its site. The operator needed a solution capable of covering extensive infrastructure, reducing manual inspection workload, and supporting long-term compliance requirements.
To address these challenges, BLV Tech deployed the BL-CH4 MINI 3 Pro methane detector integrated with DJI Dock 3, enabling automated and routine methane inspections.

Challenges
Biogas plants typically consist of numerous assets, including digesters, gas holders, flare systems, compressors, pipelines, valves, and flanges. With hundreds of potential leak points distributed across the site, manual inspections can be time-consuming and labor-intensive.
Critical components such as gas storage domes, digester roofs, and flare stacks are often located at heights ranging from 10 to 40 meters. Traditional inspections may require climbing, specialized equipment, or operational interruptions, increasing safety risks and maintenance costs.
Gas storage membranes are continuously exposed to UV radiation, weather conditions, and temperature fluctuations. Over time, small cracks or material degradation can develop, creating low-rate methane emissions that are difficult to identify through conventional inspection methods.
Solution
The BL-CH4 MINI 3 Pro was deployed as part of an automated drone inspection workflow based on DJI Dock 3.

Results
During field deployment at the French biogas facility, the system successfully demonstrated its ability to:
